FAQs
Q. This system sounds different from FM systems. Why is your system so clear?
A. With an FM system where the speaker wears a microphone, the pickup area of the microphone is limited to a very small area. The good news is that you only have to process the speaker’s voice, providing there is no extraneous noise from the wearing of the microphone. The bad news is that information other than the speaker’s voice is simply not heard. This is why questions from the audience need to be repeated. We choose to pick up all the sound and electronically de-emphasize frequencies not associated with voice. We then “bring forward” softer conversation and cutoff any loud noises happening close to the microphone. What I just described, is the heart of our system and why we are different from any other listening system available today. We hold 5 patents on our sound processing, insuring easy and clear listening for extended periods of time.
Q. Does the speaker need to wear a microphone?
A. No. The microphone is built in to the SC-186K emitter unit and can pick all the voice in a 20 foot radius.
Q. Will the system hear questions from the audience?
A. Yes. If the speaker can hear the question form the audience, our system will hear the question.
Q. Can more than one person use the system at the same time?
A. Yes. The SC-186K emitter fills the room with a continuous stream of infra-red voice. Anybody who is using an infra-red receiver can listen to the information at a volume level comfortable for them.
Q. Can systems be used in adjoining rooms?
A. Yes. The emitter is similar to the remote control for your TV. The signal will not pass through walls, insuring privacy.
Q. Are receivers compatible with different SC-186K emitters.
A. Yes. All 2.3 mhz receivers will operate with all of our current series emitters.
